BLW: Sweet Potato Fingers [Fries]

I was thinking of some alternate carbs to offer at dinner...NooNoos every night seems like overkill and rice is such a mess to clean up. Then I remembered a classic from their early days. Sweet Potato Fingers

My girls loved sweet potatoes as a puree and I couldn't wait to make them as fingers when they were a bit older. These are easy to make, healthy, and a perfect side for the family and baby led weaning (BLW). We introduced them when the girls were 7 months old.

Ingredients:

  • Sweet potatoes (I used a hybrid of orange and white ones)

  • Olive oil

  • Seasoning (optional) - cinnamon, salt, pepper

Steps:

Peel the sweet potato

Cut into up into 1/2 inch thick pieces, or approximately the size of your finger.

Toss with olive oil and desired seasonings

Spread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil (less mess and an easier clean up)

Bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes or until soft, rotating half way through

Toddler approved!

We served these with meatloaf and vegetables

Steps:

  1. Peel the sweet potatoes

  2. Cut into up into 1/2 inch thick pieces, or approximately the size of your finger.

  3. Toss with olive oil and desired seasonings

  4. Spread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil (less mess and an easier clean up)

  5. Bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes or until soft, rotating half way through
